ROUTE OF THE SUN
The journey through the main beaches of the Ecuadorian coast is one of the best tour destinations of South America. It offers you unforgettable days of beach, sun, nature, and diversion.
This spectacular trip starts with a trip through the extensive beaches of the Esmeraldal Province such as: Atacames, the most visited beach by tourists; Peñon Suicida, an extraordinary natural viewpoint; the beach of Súa, considered a large pool which allows tourists to bath, swim, and enjoy the tranquility of the beach. Then you go to the “Cueva del Amor” (the Cave of Love) and the “Isla de los Pájaros” (the Isla of Birds). You also pass through the beaches of Same and Muisne. The Mompiche Beach is the ideal spot for surf lovers.
Following the Route of the Sun south to the Province of Manabí you arrive at other wonderful beaches like the Pedernales and Jama where you can find the Cavern of Love. Other beaches here are the Canoa, San Vicente, Caraquez Bay and Crucita. Crucita is an important tour and commercial center that counts with a beautiful beach of crystalline waters, sun and sand called Murcielago Beach. Another place of interest is Montecristi known for its straw handmade hats.
 
Continuing further to the south you will find the Machalilla National Park, where you can enjoy hikes, bird watch, and visit archeological sites like the Agua Blanc Archeological Museum. You can also enjoy the virgin beach of los Frailes with crystalline water and large extensions of sand which invites you to a peaceful and tranquil stay. It is possible to enter Salango to dive. Port López is a beautiful beach from where you can take a boat to the Isle of La Plata. At la Plata you can observe humpback whales from close by, blue footed boobies, frigate birds, albatrosses, and sea wolves. It is also a favorite locale for diving. Finally you will get to know the beaches of Puerto Rico.
You then continue going south to the Province of Santa Elena, visiting the sanctuary of Olon where the devout can see the image of the Virgin that cried. The second point of interest passing the high mangrove is the beach of Montañita which is a favorite for surfers and foreigners. You also visit Ayangue and Simon Bolívar where it is possible to purchase handicrafts. Continuing on the trip you will come to a town walled Valdiva, which has an archeological/artisanal museum and an important aquarium. The Museum of Real Alto, shows the traditional culture of the Chanduy valley.
 
Another place to know is the Mud Baths of San Vicente, with its thermal pools and massages with volcanic mud. The Museum of Los Amantes de Sumpa is also here with an archeological exhibition.
You then get to Salinas, a true paradise with white sand beaches on the length of the embankment that guarantees all of the relaxing and diversions that you need. You also have the Mar Bravo and Punta Carnero where you can bird watch and surf. Another site of interest in the Ballenita is the Nautic Galeria and the Farallon Dillon Viewpoint. After that, we go to visit the Chocolatera which is the most projected point on the Santa Elena peninsula.
